Windows of Crewe

Changing Empty Spaces

This was such a lovely project to be involved in. Working with Cheshire East Council and local community groups on some new window displays to cheer up the town centre. Installing and displaying the participants work within the hub of their community.

Working alongside Crewe Heritage Centre, pupils from Oaks Academy School and adults from the Crewe's  Memory Café. We researched the places and people of Crewe - historical and contemporary. Using this information and a bit of artistic licence we designed and then made bespoke bunting to celebrate Crewe's heritage. Crewe has a wealth of stories that we used as our inspiration - here are a few examples

music by Achilles Richard - Station X

The bunting has been framed inside hand drawn representations of the beautiful municipal building windows and Crewe's railway arches and installed in empty shops inside the town centre.
